WHITE FERNS take momentum into ODIs

The WHITE FERNS have snapped a 13-game losing streak against Australia, registering a five wicket victory in the final T20I against their Trans-Tasman neighbours at Allan Border Field.

Scorecard

Chasing and requiring eight runs off the final over, Melie Kerr held her nerve to hit back-to-back boundaries off Megan Schutt leading her team to victory with three balls to spare.

Earlier, Sophie Devine (25) showed promise at the top before the WHITE FERNS suffered a mini collapse.

Fortunately Amy Satterthwaite and Katey Martin steadied the ship with a 50-run partnership in the middle to set the platform for Kerr’s last-over heroics.

Captain Devine won her third toss of the tour, choosing to bowl first on a slow deck.

The bowling effort started well with a maiden in the opening over from Jess Kerr and continued in the same, economical fashion.

Lea Tahuhu (2-29) and Melie Kerr (2-18) took two wickets each, while Devine, Hayley Jensen and Maddy Green all chimed in with a wicket, restricting Australia to 123/7 from their 20 overs.

Australia still claim the T20I series 2-1 with the teams now looking ahead to the Rose Bowl ODI series which starts on Saturday.
