Tauranga batsman Fergus Lellman compiled a classy century to give the New Zealand Under 19s a chance in their third one-dayer at Bert Sutcliffe.

Lellman stands tall, but Bangladesh U19s clinch series

For a second straight game a New Zealand Under 19 batsman struck a century in vain, as Bangladesh clinched the one-day series in Christchurch with two games remaining.

Tauranga right-hander Fergus Lellman (116*) was the star turn for the hosts, rallying his side from 37-3 to post 223-9 from their 50 overs.

Scorecard

Lellman showed off all his power by belting five sixes in his 133 ball knock, but failed to find adequate support aside from cameos by Jesse Tashkoff (20) and Hayden Dickson (23*).

The New Zealand Under 19 total looked even stronger when Kristian Clarke claimed the wicket of opener Anik Sarker in the third over.

However, as he did in game two, Bangladesh number three Mahmudul Hasan Joy proved the key man in the chase, scoring a classy unbeaten century to go with his 99 on Thursday.

Clarke and fellow opening bowler Joey Field were the pick of the bowlers, along with Adithya Ashok who claimed the wicket of Tanzid Hasan for 65.

The series now sits at 3-0 in the visitors favour with the fourth and penultimate match on Wednesday back at Bert Sutcliffe Oval.
