Northern Spirit stroll to nine wicket win

The Northern Spirit registered a comprehensive nine wicket victory over top of the table Wellington Blaze in the One-Day match at Kelburn Park, Wellington.

All rounder Kate Pulford starred with the bat and the ball to guide Northern to their third win of the season.  She made easy work of the run chase, striking eight boundaries in her unbeaten 97 from 98.

Fellow opener Natalie Dodd was also in good touch with 54 as the pair put on 123 for the first wicket.

The Spirit raced past the target with over 12 overs to spare. Batting first, Wellington were bowled out for 181.

Emily Wilson’s carreer best 4 for 25 was the stand out bowling performance for the Spirit with Pulford taking three 28 next best.

Opening batsman Sarah Bradbury got the Blaze off to a solid start with 45 and it was all going well at 101 for two a run-out of Megan Wakefield sparked a collapse that saw them lose eight wicket for 80 runs.
