Tom Latham

The quintessential left hand opening batsman, Tom Latham is a product of the New Zealand age-group system having represented New Zealand at the Under 19 World Cup in 2010.

The son of former allrounder Rod Latham, he made his Test debut for the BLACKCAPS in 2012 against India at 21 years of age.

The Canterbury batsman has represented the BLACKCAPS across all three forms of the game and has taken over the wicket-keeping duties in the ODI team.

A classical left hander with a superb temperament, Latham is a safe pair of hands at the top of any order and has established himself as a key leader in the BLACKCAPS environment and has captained his country in all three formats.

Latham was a key member of the BLACKCAPS squad which reached the 2019 ICC World Cup final and was part of the BLACKCAPS squad that defeated India to lift the inaugural World Test Championship.

Now a regular at the top of the Test order, Latham has moved into the top 10 all-time leading test run scorers for New Zealand and is widely regarded as one of the best batsman New Zealand has ever produced.

He notched his highest Test score of 264 not out against Sri Lanka at the Basin Reserve in December 2018 and has registered the fourth most Test centuries by any New Zealand player in history, behind only Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor and Martin Crowe.
