England claim warm-up win

The WHITE FERNS have fallen to England by six wickets in their first ICC Women’s T20 World Cup warm-up match at Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide.

Captain Sophie Devine won the toss and elected to bat first, the skipper’s superb run of form halted with a duck at the top of the order.

Middle order rock Katey Martin was impressive top scoring with 56, and along with Suzie Bates (33) ensured the team made it through to 133/9 from their 20 overs.

A double strike from Lea Tahuhu in her second over had the Kiwis in the contest, however, scores in the forties from Danni Wyatt (42) and captain Heather Knight (45*) ensured England reached the target at the end of the 18th over with six wickets in hand.

The WHITE FERNS’ final warm-up match is against Thailand on Wednesday, before starting the tournament proper against Sri Lanka in Perth on Saturday night.
