Otago win by five wickets in Wellington.

Volts shock Knights

SKY CITY Northern Knights 141-5 (Daniel Flynn 49, Daryl Mitchell 22, Bradley Scott 2-27, James McMillan 1-14) lost to SBS Bank Otago Volts 142-5 in 19.2 overs (Ryan ten Doeschate 44, Iain Robertson 37, Graeme Aldridge 2-27) by five wickets at Westpac Stadium, Wellington.

Scorecard

The SBS Bank Otago Volts upset the high flying SKYCITY Northern Knights at Westpac Stadium thanks to some tight fielding and bowling - the Knights were only able to find the boundary 15 times between them and paid the price with a below par total.

James McMillan bowled outstandingly and was rewarded with figures of only 1-14 from his four overs, while Nick Beard (1-24) Ryan ten Doeschate (1-25) and Bradley Scott (2-27) were equally miserly.

The Knights were lead by a typically gritty Daniel Flynn, batting from the start until the 17th over before being caught by Iain Robertson from McMillan one short of his half century, with the Knights ending their innings on 141-5 from their 20 overs.

In reply, the Volts played steadily toward the win after losing Aaron Redmond early for 2, bringing Robertson in to take the attack on with some aggressive shots, including a stylish switch hit, before being run out from a fine outfield throw from Mitchell Santner.

Sam Wells was going steadily until he retired hurt with a leg injury on 21, leaving Robertson (37) and ten Doeschate (44*) to lead the charge. There were late wobbles as the Knights came back hard to claim late wickets, but the Volts were all but home, running out winners by five wickets.
