Six wicket win in Dunedin for Central, as Otago still wait for first win.

Stags pile misery on Volts

SBS Bank Otago Volts 134 all out in 19.1 overs (Derek de Boorder 45, Adam Milne 3-30) lost to Devon Hotel Central Stags (George Worker 47, Will Young 39, Dirk Nannes 2-23) by six wickets at University Oval, Dunedin.

Scorecard

The SBS Bank Otago Volts slumped to their fifth defeat of the season against the Devon Hotel Central Stags, thanks to a total that was less then they'd have wanted. Jesse Ryder began with a hiss, taking ten runs from four balls before he was caught by Kieran Noema-Barnett from Seth Rance's bowling. Adam Milne was working up pace and proving hard to play, bowling a maiden first up and taking the dangerous Michael Bracewell for ten.

Derek de Boorder (45) and Ryan ten Doeschate (28) were the backbone of the Volts innings, but when they went the lower order was unable to offer much resistance, as the hosts limped to 134 all out with Jacob Duffy the last to go from the first ball of the 19th over.

In reply, George Worker took control, hitting four sixes on his way to 47 from 30 balls. The Stags never looked back from there, with Will Young closing out the innings with 39 from 22 balls. Dirk Nannes was the standout bowler for the Volts with two wickets and conceded only 23 runs from his four overs, but the Stags were never troubled reaching the total with five balls to spare.
