Day four: SKYCITY Northern Knights 169-2, play abandoned without a ball bowled on day four.

The Plunket Shield match between the Northern Knights and Wellington Firebirds has finished with neither team getting any points, as rain dominated all four days.

Only 50.4 overs were managed throughout the match, with the Knights reaching 169 for two in that time.

Day two: SKYCITY Northern Knights 169-2, play abandoned without a ball bowled on day two.

Day one:  SKYCITY Northern Knights 169-2 (Daniel Flynn 70, Joe Carter 47).

Just 50 overs were possible at Karori Park, in which time Daniel Flynn wasted no time getting to 70, while Joe Cater played patiently to help get the visitors reach 169-2 before rain drew the day to a close.

Flynn was in no mood to mess around right from the start, taking just 82 balls to reach 70 before being caught by Luke Ronchi from James Franklin. At the other end of the spectrum, Joe Carter took 120 balls to score 47 and made sure his wicket was intact. Daryl Mitchell was the other not-out man when rain stopped play, then stumps were drawn.

It was a frustrating day for all concerned, with the Firebirds unable to make inroads into the Knights in the time possible. The visitors need an outright win to realistically stay in contention. Mark Gillespie took the wicket of Brad Wilson, with Franklin the only other successful bowler - both teams will be keen for dryer conditions tomorrow.
