The Northern Spirit defended 169 to beat the Central Hinds by 16 runs in the one-day match at Cobham Oval in Whangarei.
All rounder Nicola Browne was the star of the show scoring an unbeaten 51 and then taking two for 24 with the ball.
Eighteen year old Kate Broadmore was the best of the bowlers with four for 19.
Broadmore was also the best of the batting line up with 51- her maiden one-day century.
Both team face off tomorrow in a repeat of today’s match.
