Mackay ton sets up win for Magicians

Young opener Frankie Mackay shone with a superb maiden first-class century as Canterbury Magicians cruised to a 52-run win in the Action Women's one-day cricket match against Auckland Hearts at Rangiora today.

The 21-year-old right-hander was in outstanding form as she combined with Mandie Godliman for a 151-run opening partnership as the home team were all out for 259 in the 46th over.

Mackay's 145 came off 132 balls and included 19 fours and a six, easily bettering her previous high score -- an unbeaten 78 from last season.

Canterbury were 246 for four with eight overs remaining after Mackay was run out, but lost their last six wickets for just 13 runs, Auckland's Rosie Cox picking up 4-15 off seven overs to restrict the Canterbury run-fest.

Mackay also picked up the valuable wicket of Auckland opener Holly Huddlestone, trapped lbw for 64, as Auckland struggled to be all out for 207 in the 47th over.

Former Central Hinds medium pacer Rachel Candy was the best of the Canterbury bowlers, taking 4-47 off 8.5 overs.
