In form batsman Kane Williamson struck a classy half century while Bradley Scott and Anton Devcich ripped through the Central Stags line up to propel the Northern Knights to an 83 run win and into the Men’s One-Day final against Auckland on Sunday.
After being put into bat on a good track at Cobham Oval in Whangarei the Knights reached 284 for six off their 50 overs and then rolled the Central Stags for 201 in 43.5.
Current One-Day MVP leader Williamson stroked his way to 84 from 98 and shared a solid 112 run partnership with Daniel Flynn for the second wicket.
Williamson has top scored in six of the last seven matches for the Knights - only missing out in the Preliminary Final loss to the Auckland Aces last Saturday.
Flynn ended on 81 off 101 with some late hitting from James Marshall (25) and Peter McGlashan (30) setting up the large total.
Seth Rance picked up three wickets in the last ten overs with Michael Mason taking one.
The Central Stags started their run chase enthusiastically with openers Jamie How and George Worker putting on a 72 run opening stand but when Worker went for 21 the visitors lost a string of wickets.
How went for 51 off 41 before Griggs, Weston and Patton fell for single figure scores.
A 44 run partnership for the seventh wicket between Mathew Sinclair and Kieran Noema-Barnett (20) steadied the inning temporarily but when Sinclair went for 54 all hope was lost.
Scott and Devcich were the chief destroyers taking three for 40 and three for 25 respectively.
Victory gives the Knights an opportunity to defend their One-Day title against competition front runners, the Auckland Aces, at Colin Maiden Park on Sunday.
