Hearts win with three balls to spare

The Auckland Hearts won the toss and decided to bowl first which was a wise decision with both Blaze openers going for ducks in the Twenty20 match at Barton Oval, Upper Hutt.

First drop Sophie Devine was under pressure to consolidate and slowly made her way up to 28 off 54 balls before being caught.

A few runs here and there and a good knock of 33 by Amanda Cooper saw Wellington through to 96 for seven after their 20 overs.

Bowlers Natalee Scripps and Megan Tremaine were the best of the attack taking two wickets each.

Wellington made an excellent start to their defense when they had the early wicket of opener Victoria Lind for a golden duck and soon after took first drop Megan Tremaine for just 5.

All seemed possible until the partnership between Michelle Lynch and Katie Perkins got Auckland back on track.

Lynch contributed 23 before and Perkins top scored with an unbeaten 43 with the winning runs coming with three balls to spare.

Sophie Devine, second on the overall MVP table, took two wickets for Wellington and with Kerry Anne Tomlinson taking one.
