Comfortable win for Hinds

The Central Hinds won the toss and decided to bowl in the Twenty20 match against the Canterbury Magicians at Redwood Park in Christchurch.

It seemed like a mistake at first with opener Frances Mackay dominating the bowling with a fine unbeaten 51.

Tight and accurate bowling from the Hinds prevented Canterbury from getting quick runs in the middle stages. Erin Bermingham gave the innings some impetus with a brisk 29 off 15 at the end to push the total through to 119.

The two wickets to fall went to bowlers Aroha Northover and Aimee Watkins.

Central got off to a flier start with both openers reaching the 20’s - Rachel Priest striking 21 and Aimee Watkins contributing 29.

The loss of those two batters did not hinder the Central Hinds with Sara McGlashen and Aroha Northover seeing the Hinds through to the with unbeaten scores of 37* and 27* respectively.

It was comfortable in the end with nearly four overs remaining and eight wickets in hand.

Frances Mackay bowled extremely well taking both wickets and only going for 6 runs off her 4 overs.
