Lincoln No.3, Lincoln

Scores

Being invited to bowl first on Lincoln No.3 went down well with the Canterbury U19 attack who dismissed the capital's up and coming cricketers with almost five overs to spare.

At 20/3, Wellington was in a heap of early trouble, but first drop Thomas Jones ground out a patient 34, batting for almost an hour with Tim Robinson.

The pair shared a 54-stand for the fourth wicket and Robinson carried on to reach a half century off 68 balls, now with the support of Micah Conway.

Robinson batted into the 36th over, but meanwhile Canterbury was busy chipping out wickets in windy conditions.

Lachie Harper had struck early and now came back for another two, finally dislodging Robinson caught on 54 at 145/7.

Harper finished with 3-50 with Angus Sidey, Will Smith and Regan Sheahan all picking up a brace as the hosts rolled Wellington for 185.

It wasn't enough to stop Canterbury but the locals made sure they chased it down in style.

Opening batsman Matt Boyle - another scion of the Canterbury batting Boyles, brother of Jack and son of Justin - carried his bat to post the first century for his side this season, an unbeaten 114* at run a ball pace, with 13 boundaries and three sixes.

Boyle kept up the hot pace throughout and shared a 66-run opening stand with Matthias Paltridge (24) before a 97-run partnership for the second with captain Nic Lidstone (35) put the result beyond doubt, en route to a handy bonus point to boot.
